Interstellar rocket league. Interstellar rift. Interstellar song. Let me first say that I went into this movie with no expectations. Being in college, I haven't seen any trailers, any critiques, or anything related to this movie going into it. I haven't really cared much for Nolan's earlier work, as impressive as it is. Also, I almost never write reviews, but I couldn't help it for this title.
Going out of it, I'm simply blown away. My first impression throughout and right after the film was that this was 2001: A Space Odyssey caliber. I'm a huge Kubrick fan and I don't say that lightly.
Every angle and detail of film-making came together so cohesively for this movie.
The cinematography was first and foremost spectacular. Beautiful, realistic-feeling scenery grasped the screen. Colors that felt organic to space blended so beautifully and imaginative planets provided a sense of awe.
Supporting this imagery was the sound(and the lack of. Crystal clear sound effects gave this film an added sense of reality. The soundtrack was perfect and integrated beautifully. The voice acting for the robots was instrumental to their depth of character. Most importantly, the blank silence was extremely impact. When frames would cut to space, where sound was impossible, the volume acted accordingly, providing everything from an eerie chill to intense suspense.
Then there's the plot. I honestly don't think I've seen a movie this good in 5 years. EASY. And I attribute a lot of this to the original, complex plot. It truly is an adventure, defying the mechanics of your typical plot structure. It contains a million different turns and details, but ultimately comes full circle in more than one way. It conveys so well to the screen, and Nolan orchestrates it to the highest degree.
Last, I'll cover the acting. This is possibly the only area I wouldn't give this movie 10/10. I say this only because, at certain points in the movie, Matthew McConaughey is acting like Matthew McConaughey, and not specifically to his character, although it seems very slight and coincidental. Additionally, some of the lines seemed glossed over by various characters for the sake of time. Otherwise, there were magnificent performances by all parts, major or minor. There was such attention to detail in every aspect of the movie.

One of the defining moments of the movie, for me (as I think others will come to see as well) is when Cooper enters the black hole and into the 5th dimension. Simply seeing the 3D fractal of reality, looking like a library of time, swept a feeling of awe over me. It is a monument to creative film-making, and a physical assimilation of pure imagination on screen.

From beginning to end, I couldn't take my eyes and attention away from the screen. Never once did I feel like a scene was artificial- Hollywood. For a Sci-Fi movie, this is incredible, and I have a great feeling it will go down as one of the greatest of all kind in its genre, if not in general. It has an instant place in my favorite movies of all time.
All I can say now is: It's amazing, astounding, and profound. If you haven't seen it yet, do yourself a favor and and see it in theaters.
Easiest 10/10 I've ever given.
